# DBX Agent Filesystem

Agent Filesystem gives users and agents persistent file storage in your
product. Connect an existing Dropbox user or create an API-only managed user,
then give each agent access to selected files and folders. Users and agents
call Dropbox file APIs with different credentials and access limits. The CLI
supports agent management, workspace mounts, and recovery of agent writes.

> **Warning**

> Agent Filesystem is in Private Preview and is subject to change. Contact
> your Dropbox representative to request access.

## DBX CLI Demo

This demo shows how to use the `dbx` CLI to create an agent workspace for a
Dropbox user, mount it as a local directory, and use it with a coding agent.

## How it works

Your app connects or creates a user, then creates an agent for that user and
sets the agent's workspace rules.

```mermaid
flowchart LR
    App["App"] -->|"connects or creates"| User["User"]
    User -->|"owns"| Agent["Agent"]
    Agent -->|"has"| Workspace["Workspace rules"]
    Workspace -->|"limits access to"| Files["Files and folders"]
```

The user's file permissions set the maximum access. Token scopes and workspace
rules can reduce that access. They cannot give an agent access that the user
does not have.

## Coming soon

Tenant administration is planned for a later release.
